Music

The mission of the music ministry is to advance the kingdom of God through our music ministry during church worship services and in the community. This is accomplished through all genres of music, including hymns, anthems, spirituals, gospel, contemporary gospel music, and with instruments for spreading the gospel and ministering to the believer and nonbeliever.

Christian Education & Outreach

The purpose of the Christian Education is to provide for interpretative guidance and development in the Christian way of life.  To teach members about living a Christian life through study of the bible, by class room instruction and various activities that help reinforce the lessons learned.

 

Outreach is a natural extension of the Christian education process as we are called to be committed disciples and to share our witness in our several communities by proclaiming the word of God in our community bringing the good news of hope, healing and renewal to the lives of others for the glory of God and his kingdom.

Community Outreach

 

Girl Scouts

Girl Scouts were founded by Juliette Gordon Low in Savannah GA on March 12, 1912; we are a worldwide organization of girls and young women of all races, creeds, colors and abilities who believe in serving God, Our Country and Helping People to make the world a better place.

As a ministry within the Christian Education Department of the Union Wesley A.M.E. Zion Church we are an organization that by demonstrating service and leadership within and around our community teaches young girls to be, devout in their religious beliefs, service minded, courageous and confident.

Our Troops partner with other ministries within Union Wesley to provide soup, blankets and toiletries to the homeless, gift cards, baby formula and diapers to the local family and children’s center, and serving our seniors at the Wesley House. In addition to being service minded locally our girls are service minded internationally and will be traveling to Costa Rica in July 2017 to embark on a nine day service learning trip. Service is our first order of business BUT we have lots of FUN, camping, traveling, attending local arts, cultural and sporting events and taking part in some really cool projects at Microsoft and NASA to name a few.

 

We welcome ALL girls in grades K-9 for the upcoming school year to join us. Our troops are open to girls who are not members of Union Wesley so please feel free to share with friends and family that may be looking for troops that are active, fun and engaged in the community!

 

We meet very 2nd and 4th Saturday from 1-3pm from September to May.
